It's 2012 and that song still bangs to me, but I was kid when it was originally released. Those of you who were young back then(no offense), was that song guranteed to inject adrenaline into a party or a club?

For those that can remember, when Billy Idol's Rebel Yell came on, did clubs/parties go bananas?

Believe it or not, another brief elder encounter yesterday...
by sd-7 init was another elder from my judicial committee, came up to me after i'd strapped my daughter into the car.
two things that struck me as different were (1) he didn't feel a need to bring a second elder along with him as if something that required two witnesses was going to be said by someone who'd been df'd for two years and 99.9% absent from meetings as well, and (2) he actually seemed genuinely friendly.
he simply asked if i was planning to come to the meetings again anytime soon.

But I'm sure it was just a minor thing, probably nothing more than it's-a-new-service-year-so-we-gotta-check.
Never even thought about it this way. You made their job easier. No reason to meander about setting up an appointed time to chat with you, no need to go out of their way to visit you. Nope, you're already at the hall picking up your family, so those brothers can kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Reminds me of this commercial.

Young People Ask DVD highlights
by DATA-DOG ini got a real chuckle out of a few lines from this video.
this was my favorite.
" jehovah doesn't care about " hours ", he cares about you doing your best!".

The best is sitting in an elder's meeting discussing potential appointments. The COBOE reads a name, and then the body discusses his situation. Usually for about 20 seconds or so after the name is brought up, everybody looks down at the carpet. Then one of the bothers will go, "what's his time like?" That usually gets the ball rolling. The time in field service is usually the first thing questioned. I've seen COs shut down unanimous recomendations from the elder body because the CO felt that the recomended brother's time wasn't diversified enough. The CO would deduct hours similar to deducting points because at least some of the hours reported were from the family study.

The way they're emphasizing brazen conduct as of late its possible. I think they're gonna turn up the heat on those associating with DF/DA relatives too. It's all gonna be manifest in 2013. Ted Jaracz on steroids. Theres already certain elders with aggressive tendencies, but I think next year the branches are going to teach the moderate elders how to show their teeth towards the flock. All speculation mind you and time will tell.

Who was she? LOL I realise that I can simply google this, but it's much more authentic reading it from you guys.

Rutherford's love letter to Hitler
by irondork inhas anyone ever thought to send a copy of rutherford's letter to hitler & declaration of facts to the holocaust museum in washington, d.c.?
they have and entire section dedicated to the jehovah's witness in that museum.
i would hate for tourists to visit the museum and not get the whole story.. i would also assume there are jw displays at other holocaust museums around the world.

Wanted to mention that kind of anti-semitic talk wasn't uncommon back then, not that it excuses Rutherford or anything, just saying. It does provide more evidence that he was a grade-A-asshole of epic proportions.

I saw that earlier this morning, never heard of him until seeing the news item earlier. Was he in the veins of a Sinatra or Tony Bennet?

Either the players are gonna have to strike...or we the fans are gonna have to boycott. Just don't see it happening though.
I don't see it happening either. I'll tell ya right now I'll be watching on Sunday depending on who's playing. As far as players taking a stand, I was pretty upset when Green Bay sent some players out on the field for the extra point just so the game would conclude properly. I was hoping they would have taken a united stand and remained in their locker room. Or at the least come out on the field and and just stand their or lay down. Them coming out to the field for the xtra point was ultimate example of adding insult to injury.
By the way, this picture is classic. Truly some three stooges type hilarity.
